What pisses me off about liars isn’t just the lie. It’s the work they create for everyone else.
Now I have to check what you told me. Ask someone else. Go back through messages. Figure out which parts were true and which parts you made up because the truth was inconvenient.
Congratulations. You’ve turned a simple conversation into a fucking investigation.
People make mistakes. They forget things. They get facts wrong. I can work with that. “I screwed up” gives us somewhere to start.
But knowingly feeding me bullshit, then acting offended when I question it? That takes a special kind of nerve.
And once I catch you lying, the problem follows you. The next time you tell me something—even something completely true—I’m going to wonder.
That’s the part you don’t fix with “sorry.” You’ve made your word something I have to verify.
I don’t need everyone to be perfect. I would appreciate not having to fact-check a conversation over coffee.
