I’m sick of powerful people preaching respect for the rules while looking for ways to rewrite the ones that inconvenience them.

The rest of us get told, “That’s the law.”

They get lawyers, lobbyists, private meetings, and somebody willing to slip an exception into the fine print.

Then we’re supposed to believe the change is about fairness, efficiency, or what’s best for the country.

Funny how “what’s best for the country” can line up so neatly with what’s best for their bank account.

A law needs changing? Fine. Explain why. Make the case in public. Show us who benefits.

But if you’re using your office, your money, or your connections to protect your own interests, spare me the fucking speech about public service.

And don’t lecture me about personal responsibility while arranging for your consequences to disappear.

I don’t give a damn which party you belong to. I don’t care how rich you are or how many people applaud when you enter a room.

If you help write the rules, live under them. If changing them benefits you personally, put that fact front and center where everyone can see it.

We shouldn’t have to dig through the fine print to discover that your grand reform comes with a little something for yourself.

Public office is not your personal repair shop. The law is not something you should be able to customize because you can afford the upgrades.
